  20. PROGRAMME DETAILS
  21. -----------------
  22.  This is a specialised database for keeping track of genealogical information.
  23.  It features a full, easy to use, Intuition interface. Scion v5 is a MAJOR
  24.  upgrade to earlier versions. See the "Scion.guide" help file for details on
  25.  what's new.
  26.  
  27.  The programme has been written in a totally secular manner, has no
  28.  checking on sex (to allow for "unconventional" relationships), and has no
  29.  name checking (to allow for adopted children).

  31.  The printed reports include descendant and pedigree charts, personal details
  32.  reports, family group sheets, index lists of people and families, and many
  33.  others. See the "Scion.guide" help file for details on the new reports.

  35.  Free-form note files can be created and viewed, IFF-ILBM pictures can be
  36.  viewed, and IFF-8SVX sound files can be played - all from within the
  37.  programme.

  39.  Other features include dynamic on-screen ancestor and descendant charts,
  40.  extensive on-line context-sensitive help, powerful searching and filtering,
  41.  and multiple ARexx ports with an extensive command set (see "ScionRexx.Guide"
  42.  for further information).

  44.  Locale support for alternative languages.
  45.  
  46.  Can be used with PAL or NTSC and third-party graphics cards. Works with
  47.  floppy and/or hard disk drives, although a hard disk drive is STRONGLY
  48.  recommended.

  50.  Database stored in RAM for maximum speed. Memory usage typically 50% less
  51.  than earlier versions of Scion.
  52.  
  53.  Loads databases created with any earlier version of Scion or "ArJay
  54.  Genealogist".

  56.  Maximum number of people per database = limited only by available memory
  57.  Maximum number of families per database = limited only by available memory
  58.  Maximum number of marriages per person = 10

  61. REQUIREMENTS

  63.  A minimum of 1 Mbyte of RAM is required. 4 Mbytes of RAM is recommended.

  65.  Scion will use any "virtual" memory allocated by virtual memory managers such
  66.  as GigaMem (© Copyright 1991,1992 Christian A Schnedier, F Burgel, Relog AG)
  67.  and VMM (© Copyright 1994 Martin Apel).

  69.  Kickstart/Workbench v2.04 (or later) required. Version 2.10 (or later)
  70.  required for locale support (alternative languages).

  72.  Any preferences supported printer.

  74. ON-LINE HELP
  75. ------------
  76.  On-line help is available from within Scion Genealogist by pressing the
  77.  "HELP" key.

  79.  If the mouse pointer is positioned over a gadget when the "HELP" key is
  80.  pressed, help on that particular gadget will be displayed.

  82.  If a menu item is being selected when the "HELP" key is pressed, help on that
  83.  particular menu item will be displayed.

  85.  If the mouse is NOT positioned over a gadget when the "HELP" key is pressed,
  86.  the main help contents screen for the programme will be displayed.
